What: Smart Life Family Foundation completed its Iceland field trip in one of the world’s largest and most advanced geo thermal facility located in South Region of Iceland, 25 km from Reykjavík.

1. Attended geo thoermal walkthrough by a world known climate change specialist, Dr. M Jackson.
2. Dr. M Jackson is a geographer, glaciologist, and science communicator exploring the intersections of societal transformation, glaciology, and climate change. Jackson is a National Geographic Society Explorer.
3. Studied the geothermal power and sustainable energy in Iceland by (1) touring the turbine halls of the plant, (2) viewing interactive and educational displays, and (3) learning about a leading solution for CO2 storage.

Smart Life Family Foundation is honored and humbled to have its own board member, Chief Communication Officer, Sasha to speak in front of thousands of church attendants before the formal sermon.
· Sasha reflected on how the Rock student summer camp transformed her heart, soul and faith. As Jesus said on her side: I love you; I love you and I love you.

What
The China Folk House (1) hosts cultural exchanges, retreats, and China-related events to build mutual understanding; (2) promotes experiential learning about the diverse folkways of rural China to cultivate a unique connection to China in the U.S.; and (3) offers intensive Chinese language study in a culturally immersive environment to build pathways for dialogue between China and the U.S.
Why
The China Folk House was built with materials and masterships blended with Tibetan, Naxi, Bai, and Han Chinese ethnic styles, built by Bai carpenters from Yunan, and used by Catholic missioners from France, according to the executive director of China Folk House, a non-profit org, Dr. John Flower (Director, Sidwell Friends School Chinese Studies Program, Ph.D. University of Virginia).

Sandos Foundation (https://fundacionsandos.org/) is a hotel chain owned non profit to preserve marine environment with a harmless hotel tourism. It collects wastes, gathers donations, and reuses the resources. We FF made another donation $1,000 to support the pack for package and beach cleaning supplies.

Hotel director Nicki enlightened us about ocean life and marine life, sea animals’ natural habitat and the importance of protecting them, as some species of sea turtles are currently endangered species.

Sandos Resort uses ocean water 70 feet below and desalinizes to usable water (laundry, kitchen and gardening). Well water is also available for over 50 years thanks to the underground water system. Ocean water after treatment is soft, and well water is hard. Blending these two sources to make it daily consumption by hotel guests.

On the Cabo San Lucas beach, FF members learned the nesting habit of leatherback, olive ridey and Galapagos green. Out of the seven sea turtle species that exist in the world, Mexico welcomes six, which is why Mexico is called the "country of sea turtles.”

TEDx is a platform to promote ideas and innovations through public speaking. The talks cover a wide range of topics, from technology to art to social issues, and they challenge people’s perspectives and stimulate their thinking.

TEDx Cherry Creek continues being the Colorado home each year for the TEDx Women Global event. In 2023 it curated its All Youth TEDx event, where young presenters bring so much to the table in terms of ideas worth spreading.

Smart Life Donates to CAPA VA and MD non profits
About CAPA
CAPA-NoVA, CAPA-HC, CAPA-MC and CAPA-BC stands for Chinese American Parents Association. It has regional charter in Northern Virginia (VA), Montgomery County (MD), Baltimore County (MD), and Howard County (MD).
These CAPA non-profit organizations are established and funded to advance, empower and unite the Asian Americans and other immigrants in the VA and MD areas by advocating for the underrepresented, leading in civic activities, promoting greater community engagement, and supporting integration into the larger community. Cultural, educational and community involvement are key areas for charity activities.
Why Donation
CAPA promotes financial literacy to young people and Chinese families. Smart Life FF sees a good fit into its mission statement, which is promotes financial and tax knowledge and enrichment to the young generation. A cash donation is made.

It also aims to provide alumni with help in career, business, entertainment, housing, as well as mutual assistance.

SMART Life Donated to the First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island, SC
First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island is a place where “islanders and island visitors worship together.” Smart Life Board Members were warmly welcomed guests at the church service.
Like many churches in the country, First Baptist Church Hilton Head Island faced the reduced worship visits during the pandemic. Smart Life’s donation helps the church with repairs and maintenance to ensure the God’s words are spread to more people, local residents or visitors like us.

Toastmasters International (IRS EIN 95-1300076) is a U.S.-headquartered nonprofit educational organization that operates clubs worldwide for the purpose of promoting communication, public speaking, and leadership. Throughout its history, Toastmasters has served over four million people, and today the organization serves over 364,000 members in 145 countries, through its 16,200 member clubs.
Smart Life Family Foundation has a mission to develop young people’s public speaking and leadership skills, because they need such critical soft skills to succeed in the ever changing technology and society.
Activities:
1. Smart Life Family Foundation board members visited Toastmasters’ headquarters, and toured the campus to gain an understanding of the growth of this organization.
2. Smart Life made donation to the Toastmasters to promote public speaking and leadership growth in the U.S. and the world.
